Hunter education classes offered

The St. Charles Sheriff’s Office will offer a 16-hour hunter safety education course to the public on the following dates: Nov. 7 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Nov. 8 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The course is required for all youth seeking to obtain their first hunting license as well as hunters who seek to acquire an out of state license.

The course will teach firearm safety, wildlife management and outdoor survival.

All classes will be held at the Richard Benoit Memorial Firearms range located behind the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center in Killona. Participants will be required to complete the whole 16-hour course for certification purposes. All participants are asked to bring a lunch for the Nov. 8 session.
