Question of the season: What does a fisherman do during a hurricane?

A question was asked to me two days after Gustav slammed in to the Louisiana coastline: “What does a fisherman do during a hurricane?” Lori Eusea wanted to know. The answer was a multitude of discussions, most outdoorsman would agree.

It was a good time to clean all of my rod-n-reels, reorganize my tackle boxes, restring some badly needed reels, and cook numerous packs of fish, which had accumulated in the freezer during the summer.

Now is the time to try out some curious recipes. So a few phone calls later, we soon had friends indulging in our Cajun kitchen.

On the lighter side, it took a serious time in our lives to give each and everyone a chance to come together for food, spirits, and laughter.

As the days rolled along, I had a chance to check out many of the boat launches in St. Charles Parish, although many were unaccessible due to sand bagging the entrances.

The south side of the parish is totally blocked off or flooded.

After the power came on, I started surfing the Internet. Two great programs located were the Louisiana of Department Wildlife and Fisheries and netknots.

The Louisiana of Department Wildlife and Fisheries, www.wlf.la.us, will allow you to access a video online, of the new deer tagging procedure.

This is a must for you deer hunters. Netknots.com, allows you to find the most common knots used in fishing and boating. Animation is used to demonstrate most of the knots.

I hope your question was answered Lori.
