It was a near perfect night for Hahnville quarterback Landen Teague, who completed 19-of-20 passes for 302 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-14 victory at Central Lafourche Friday night.

It was Hahnville’s third straight win as the Tigers moved to 6-1 on the season and 3-1 in District 8-5A competition. Central Lafourche dropped to 2-5 overall, 0-3 in district play.

Running back Fabian Celestine, likewise, had his own big night – it took him just eight carries to gain 105 yards on the ground and score three touchdowns.

Teague spread the ball out to six different receivers, led by Aaron Williams’ seven receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown. Bennett Naquin caught four passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. Kevias Singleton caught four passes for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, end Raymond Williams added a touchdown on a scoop and score.

One of Hahnville’s aims this week was to take control early on and get out to a fast start. Mission accomplished there.

On Teague’s night, Hahnville head coach Greg Boyne called it “one of the best performances, numbers-wise, I’ve seen as a coach.”

“He was locked in from the beginning … he’s been playing and competing at a high level all year,” Boyne said. “He threw the ball well, we started underneath early and he took a lot of deep shots from there. Everything was clicking. When you have that kind of yards per attempt … hats off to Landen. He had a good week of watching film and we saw his work put into action.”

Boyne said Friday represented a breakout night for Williams, who has earned more targets.

“He’s somebody we’ve been talking about where we think he needs more touches,” said Boyne. “He’s pretty explosive with it and Landen’s starting to trust him more. He had a really strong game.”

One of the few negatives from this one actually highlighted what’s been a massive positive for the Tigers this season – Friday saw Hahnville lose a fumble, its first turnover of the entire season.

Hahnville turned it over just three times all of last season, including the playoffs a very strong number that the Tigers are nonetheless on pace to beat this season.

“I don’t talk about it – I don’t want to jinx it,” Boyne said. “We have a ball security circuit that we work relentlessly, and its a credit to the coaches and the kids who have really bought into it.”
