Hahnville cruises, Destrehan falls in River Parishes jamboree

Tigers beat up on St. James 21-6, Lutcher over Destrehan 25-0

It may have just been a jamboree, but Hahnville showed exactly why they are considered contenders for the 5A crown this season, dominating St. James on both sides of the ball for a 21-6 win.

Alfred Blue ran wild throughout the contest, barreling through defenders for 104 yards and giving the Tigers their first score of the night.

With Blue punishing the St. James defensive line, Tiger quarterback Brian Ensminger added insult to injury through the air, connecting on two touchdown passes to Lloyd Richard and James Bulter to put the Tigers up 21-0 in the second.

Ensminger was as close to perfect as you can get, completing nine of his 10 passes for 121 yards in just 30 minutes.

St. James did manage to get on the board before the final buzzer sounded, scoring a touchdown with 1:38 remaining.

While Hahnville cruised, Destrehan struggled.

In the first half, the Wildcats had a little offense going with running back Marshall Charles zipping around defenders. And the defense also did their part, holding a high-octane Lutcher offense to only six points.

But in the second half, things fell apart.

Lutcher quarterback Gavin Webster proved elusive for Wildcat defenders and torched the Wildcats through the air as well for 162 yards.

The Bulldogs picked up three more touchdowns in the second and shut down the Destrehan offense for the 25-0 victory.
