Congratulations to the Destrehan High School boys tennis team for their outstanding performance at the state 5A competition on April 29 and April 30 in Lafayette.
Team participants were Rustem Bilyalov, Charlie Jones, and Travis Versher.
Charlie Jones upset all four of his opponents to capture the boys state singles championship. He defeated his opponent in the final round 6-1, 6-0.
With Charlie’s awesome performance clinching the state singles title along with Rustem Bilyalov and Travis Versher’s defeat of their opponents in the first round of the state competition 6-4, 6-2, the Destrehan High School Boys Tennis team is the 2008 Louisiana State 5-A Championship Runner-Ups.
