Port traffic should go here

Look forward to a major increase in boat traffic at Louisiana port cities in the future. This will result from the enlargement of the Panama Canal which will be complete in a couple of years.

It should bring a huge amount of traffic up the Mississippi River, which flows right through St. Charles Parish. And it should bring a major expansion of industries that will benefit from that increase in flowing commerce.

Already, our South Louisiana Port Commission seems to be ready to expand the capacity of our riverfront to accommodate this bigger traffic. And this could greatly increase the benefits to the economy of Southeast Louisiana.

The enlarged canal will attract bigger ships which will encourage more commerce up the canal’s nearest connection at the Mississippi River. As a result, our river corridor should be an oasis for development of greater commerce.

The Panama Canal has provided commerce between Pacific and Atlantic Ocean ports for years. Without it, big boats would have had do go almost half a planet away to the southernmost coast of South America.

This bigger avenue through the center of America should do wonders in improving commerce for our country and the rest of the Western Hemisphere. So get ready for a big boost in the increase of waterborne commerce through the center of our country – along the banks of the Mississippi River in Louisiana.
