Let’s get countries n the world together

The United States needs to push its efforts to get other countries together on disagreements that seem to be tearing the world apart on issues such as creating a Palestinian state before a peace treaty is signed between the two countries. And there are other matters of concern, especially in the Middle East where forces of various views are trying to take control.

The United Nations, though it is a necessary component of our international governance, cannot do the job, perhaps because it is too diverted in its outlook. It apparently cannot speak out with enough authority, backed by force, to bring the differences in view under control.

But the United States of America, with its strength in armed forces and weapons, gets more attention than other nations when it speaks. Thereby, perhaps we are dispelling the notion that democracy is the way the world should run. After all, that is what we proclaim. However, when you have too much democracy perhaps there is too much differences of opinion.

So on the international front, we have to obtain a means of maintaining the democratic outlook while working with the other countries in keeping world order. It is the only way to preserve it.

One public official who seems to be pursuing this aim is our Secretary of State John Kerry, who has been promoting efforts to unite the world in a somewhat soft-spoken way, appealing to all areas to accept principles that can pull the world together.

Kerry can have a low-key voice that balances all sides, and that should work very well on an international basis. His message is to spread democracy around the world and make it a more peaceful place, regardless of what individual differences we have that can be resolved on the local level.

Why can’t we have a world of countries, similar to our country of states, which can maintain a semblance of order and live peacefully though we may have some differences of opinion? Of course, that may require a little bit of organization and promotion, but it is possible.

We suggest that Kerry continue the way he has been going and he could take us into a leadership role that would make the world a more comfortable, free and safe environment.

We need to push for such a development.
