Steven C. “Steve” Wilson

Steven C. “Steve” Wilson, 63, a native of St. Charles Parish and resident of Boutte passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023.

Steve had many passions in life, but his greatest was his family. He spent many years coaching his children in sports and traveling the country for softball tournaments. In recent years, he enjoyed cheering from the sideline of his granddaughter’s soccer games, spoiling his granddaughters with love and attention, and joining them on just about any adventure they wished. There was no prouder father or Paw Paw than Steve.

Steve retired from Motiva Enterprises in Norco after 25 years where he last held the position of Environmental Assurance Coordinator. Aside from this career, Steve spent many years serving the people of St. Charles Parish and the State of Louisiana in numerous capacities. From 1991 until 2001, Steve served as Commissioner on the St. Charles Parish Planning Commission and was the first commissioner member of the American Planning Association in Louisiana.

In 2000, he was appointed to the Pontchartrain Levee District, served four years as Commissioner-At-Large to the Board, and became President of the Pontchartrain Levee District Board of Commissioners in February of 2004. Under his time in leadership, Steve worked tirelessly to secure funding for multiple flood protection projects throughout his district and beyond.

In 2005, Steve was appointed by the governor to serve as the Levee Region 3 Representative with the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority. He held this position until 2015.

Steve also served as President of the Association of Levee Boards of Louisiana from 2010 through 2016, representing all 26 levee districts throughout Louisiana. He took great pride in his work to protect life, property, and the future for the people he served.

Steve was survived by his wife, Donya Wilson; children, Kaci (Kent) Belanger, Zachary (Julia) Wilson, Quincee (Randy) Roccaforte, and Erin (Grant) Champagne; grandchildren, Kynzi “Petunia” Rodriguez, Amelie Belanger, Sloan Champagne, Adeline Champagne, Kaylee Roccaforte, and Korinne Roccaforte; siblings, Timmy (Denise) Wilson, and Cheryl (Charlie) Raney; beloved pups, Max, and Bennet; several nieces and nephews; father-in-law and side kick, Billy Hebert.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Charles Wilson.

Visitation was held at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland on Saturday, March 11th from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time. Funeral Services were held in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m.
