Moten

Helen Wollens Moten, 69, a native and resident of Boutte died on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2007. Visitation was held on Aug. 25 at Antioch Baptist Church in Des Allemands. The religious service was held at 11 a.m. at the Halfway Cemetery in Gray. She is survived by one sister, Ruby Woolens of Houma and numerous nieces, nephews, relative and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferinand Dr. and Avery Woolens; four brothers, Ferdinand Woolens Jr., Grammar Woolens, Albert Woolens and Lawlwss Woolens; three sisters, Mary McCoy, Rachel Williams and Daisy Woolens; grandparents, Mary and Mitchell Williams and Rachael and Fernand Woolens. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Mardi Gras Club. She enjoyed socializing with people. Kennedy Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Abadie

Daisy Mae Hildago Abadie died on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 1:25 p.m. in LaPlace. Wife of the late Clarence “Abby” Abadie, Sr. Daughter of the late Eddie Hidalgo and Alice Bartell Hidalgo. Mother of Catherine “Deanie” Abadie Trepagnier of LaPlace, Clarence “Manny” Abadie, Jr. of Tickfaw, Richard “Dickie” Abadie of Gretna and Shelia Abadie Gonor of Albany. Sister of the late Joyce, Harold, Alby Hidalgo and Ida DiBennedetto. Also survived by 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Age 92 years. A current resisdent of LaPlace and former resident of Norco. Mass of Christian Burial was on Aug. 24 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norco. Interment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum in Destrehan. H.C. Alexander Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Decker

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007 at Memorial United Methodist Church in Mathews for Mary Elizabeth Decker, 90, who died peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 21 at her daughters home in Lafayette. The Rev. Peggy Foreman of Belle Chasse and Rev. Billy Decker of Hoover conducted the services. Interment followed at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Gray. She was a native of Parkersburg, WV and a resident of Lockport for 52 years. She had a very exciting career in Washington D.C. where she saw President Roosevelt on numerous occasions and had tea with the First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. She then married the love of her life, Robert Martin Decker I and moved south to a part of the country he came to dearly love. Her family was her pride an joy. She is survived by her son, Robert Martin Decker II (wife Gale Clement Decker) of Luling and her daughter Patricia Parrott (husband William Parrott) of Lafayette. She had three grandchildren: Mitchel Decker (wife Kelly) of Ama, Billy Parrott of Brooklyn and Amy Parrott Guidry (husband Brian) of Lafayette. She had two great-grandchildren to love and adore: Henry Parrott and Emma Guidry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Martin Decker, her parents, Ada and Lonnie Simpson, her brother, William Simpson and many other relatives and dear friends in Lockport and across the country. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70503. Special thanks to their staff, in particular, Maria Oliver, Chaplain Lou Labbe, Jennifer, and Rose for their love, compassion, care and support. Visitation will be observed from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Falgout Funeral Home in Lockport. Arrangements are being handled by Falgout Funeral Homes.
