BATSON
Aubrey Merrell Batson, Sr. passed away on Sunday, Jan. 14 in Houma. A U.S. Marine Corp. veteran of WWII. Husband of the late Sylvia Mercedes Batson. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Batson. Father of Peggy Falla and husband Joe Falla; John Batson and girlfriend Karen Peters; the late Aubrey M. Batson Jr. William (Billy) Batson, Sue Tesch, Anita Gaubert and Mary Massengale. Father-in-law of Elaine peters Batson. Brother of Eugen McFarren and Vonda Morton. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Age 80, a native of Earle, Arkansas and resident in Houma. Visitation was at Alexander Funeral Home Norco at 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday Jan 16. A private Graveside Service followed the visitation. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Terrebone House Asst. living, Terrebone General Hospital and the Gulf State L.T.A.C unit, all of Houma Alexander Funeral Home of Norco.

ABADIE
Mary Ann Bradley Abadie, born September 11, 1933 in Norco died on Jan. 13 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, from complications associate with Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer. She is the daughter of the late Victor “Vic” Bradley, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Gavin “Dookeye” Bradley and mother of Louis Cook III, and Elizabeth Cook Schaeufele. She has one brother Victor “Vic” Bradley Jr. who is a prominent attorney in Norco. She married Louis Cook, Jr. in 1954 and later married Clarence J. Abadie Jr. in 1977. She graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1955 in the College of Education and was Teacher Supervisor at the Norco Primary School until she retired in 1987. She also taught at schools in Thailand and Abu Dhabj and was school Principal in the Department school at the military base on the island of Andros in the Bahamas and on the island of Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands. Private family funeral arrangements were planned.

MONTZ
Aline Jacob Montz on Wednesday, Jan. 3 in Laplace. Wife of the late Joseph F. Montz Jr. Daughter of the late Maxie and Dora Jacob. Mother of Kenneth and wife Ann Montz. Sister of the late Lester and Wlmore Jacob. Grandmother of Kenny and wife Catherine Montz and Kelly and husband Jude Eserman, Great grandmother of Haley, Seth, Gabriel, Jared, Kaylynn and Mary Catherine Montz and Matt Eserman. Age 93. A native of New Orleans and resident of Montz Mass of Christian Burial was at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday Jan. 6 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Norco. Interment St Charles Borromeo Mausoleum Destrehan. Visitation at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Norco was from 10:15 am to 12:15 pm on Saturday, Jan. 6. Alexander Funeral Home of Norco.

LEBLANC
Ruby Labat LeBlanc passed away on Wednesday Jan. 17 in Norco. Wife of the late Louis F. “Cowboy” LeBlanc, Sr. Daughter of the late Etienne Labat and Edith Bourgeois Labat. Mother of Elaine and husband, Lionel Perret, Jr. of Norco. Louis F. Jr. and wife Janet LeBlanc of Shreveport, Lannie R. and wife Sharon LeBlanc of Suwanne GA, and the late Lindsey LeBlanc, Sr. Sister of Shirley Labat Kemp of Bachelo. The late Etienne Labat, Jr. Norman Labat, Ernest Labat, Ethel Labat Louque, Dorthy Labat Bran, Edward Labat and Albert Labat. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. Age 86 and a native of Paulina and a resident of Norco. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11:30 AM on Saturday Jan 20 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norco. Interment in St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum. Visitation was Alexander Funeral Home in Norco from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20.

WHITE
Mark D. White, 49, died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends Sunday, Jan. 21 at 3:43 p.m. of Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS). He was a native of Luling and a resident in Houma. A 1976 graduate of Hahnville High School and graduated from LSU. He received a master’s degree and was practicing nurse anesthetist (CRNA) at Chabert Medical Center. Mark is survived by his beloved and devoted wife Cydney Smith White; his daughter, Lauren White Harmon, his parents Decker and Gloria White, sister Kristen White, sister Sheryl Bonilla and husband Henry, brother Keith White and wife Sue, brother Darren White and Wife Linda, sister in law Stevette Anderson and husband Dwight, and mother in law Janet Smith. Mark is also survived by seven nephews and four nieces. Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents Missak and Verkin Selian, Perry and Gladys White, and his father in law Stephen Smith. Also at Mark’s Bedside were dear friends Jonathan Bruce, Jeanne Breaux, Becky and Paul Ianazzo, Dr. Jon Shults, Tara Stringer and Shannon Huber. Mark touched so many lives because of his passion for diversity of interests. He loved RX-7s, auto racing, guns, politics, history and medicine. His magnetic personality drew friends from many fields. On any given night his visitors could include doctors, nurses, engineers, car enthusiasts, National Rifle Association members or Washington politicos. Mark truly lived a full and active life until his last day. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at Chauvin Funeral Home, 5899 Hwy 311, Houma. Funeral services will be conducted by Bishop Greg Stock of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints on Wednesday Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of South Louisiana 6500 Main St. Houma 70360.

BREAUX
Lena Cannalito Breaux of Ama, LA passed away early on Dec. 9, 2006.  Beloved wife of James “JJ” Breaux for 50 years.  Mother of Sabrina Bergeron, Ricky Breaux, Rodney Breaux and the late James J. Breaux, Jr.  Mother-in-law of Kerri Breaux and Percy Bergeron.  Sister of Bernadine Borne and Rita Mae Meachum.  Daughter of the late Mary Vallee and Tom Cannalito.  Also survived by six grandchildren.  Relatives, friends and employees of St. Charles Parish Clerk of Court, Sheriff’s Office, Assessors Office, District Attorney’s Office, Judges and employees of the 29th  J.D.C., Cytec Industries, Officers and Members of United Steelworkers Local 13-447, St. Charles Civil Service Board, WIB #32 of the River Parishes, United Way of Greater New Orleans Area, United Way of St. Charles Parish, Louisiana Technical College Advisory Board and the Mental Health Unit of St. Charles Parish were invited to attend the Funeral Mass which was held at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006 at 11AM.  Interment was in St. Charles Mausoleum.  Visitation was at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 11, 2006 from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until Mass time.

HOLLIS
Monica Crochet Hollis, on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006 at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. Beloved wife of Shawn Hollis. Mother of Brittany and Amber Hollis. Daughter of Melvin Crochet, Sr. and Sylvia St. Pierre Crochet. Sister of Melvin Crochet Jr. and Rhonda St. Amant. Preceded in death by grandparents Roy P. Crochet, Julie Zeller Crochet, Numa St. Pierre and Anna Pierce St. Pierre. A native and resident of Des Allemands. Age 31 years. Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend the funeral. Religious services at Des Allemands Mennonite Church on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006 at 11 a.m. Interment was at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Des Allemands. Visitation was from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. on Wednesday and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Thursday at Des Allemands Mennonite Church. Falgout Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.
