Salvadore “Sal” Noto

Salvadore “Sal” Noto passed away on Dec. 5.

Noto was 82, a native of New Orleans and a resident of St. Charles Parish for the past 30 years.

He retired from the New Orleans Fire Department in 1988 after 21 years of service and the I. L. A. Longshoremen’s Local Union 3000 in 1988 after 34 years of service.  During his retirement he encouraged and looked forward to the migration of purple martins.

He was an advocate for purple martins, in the way of media interviews and educating passerby.

Noto was the beloved husband of Eva Gauthier Noto; father of Karen Noto Theriot (Robert), Billy T. Brewer (Stephanie), Dino Vito Noto and the late Salvadore Noto Jr. and Ricky Brewer; son of the late Antoinette Argento Noto and Vito Noto; brother of the late Josephine Abate, Angelina Gould, Virginia Canale, Marie McDonnell, Frances Lelli, Genevieve Steinbrunner and Walter, Victor and Louis Noto.  Grandfather of Christy Buquoi (Terry), Robert J. Theriot (Connie), Amy Noto, Seth Porter Brewer and Payton Brewer.

He is the great-grandfather of Trent and Tate Buquoi and Robert and Isaac Theriot.

Noto was dearly loved by many nieces and nephews.  Noto was always there to help a family member, friend, neighbor or stranger in need.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral. Services at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner on Dec. 12, 10 a.m.

Visitation will be held Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.  and on Saturday after  8 a.m.  Interment will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.
