Henry “Happy” Hoffman, Jr., 99, died peacefully Nov. 28.
Hoffman was born Dec. 26, 1915 and raised in New Orleans. He was a longtime resident of Luling.
He was beloved husband of the late Melba A. Hoffman and the late Myrtle D. Hoffman. Hoffman is survived by his daughters, Patsy (Syl) Caillet and Sue (George) Triche. Also he is survived by his grandchildren, Brian (Dionne) Smith, Greg Smith, and Leslie (Errol) King, and great-grandchildren Mallory King, Adeline Eubanks and Brennan Smith.
He was a graduate of Fortier High School and LSU in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of the LSU Band. He was also a Shriner for 62 years.
Hoffman was retired from Exxon where he worked as a petroleum engineer and also retired as district manager of the Louisiana Conservation Department in Houma, La.
Among his many social activities, he enjoyed golfing, handmade creative arts, and activities at Willowdale Country Club. He was also a faithful member of the Luling United Methodist Church.
A celebration of life was held at New Life Community Church in Luling on Dec. 1 followed by visitation and interment in Metairie Cemetery, New Orleans.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Hoffman’s name may be made to the Luling United Methodist Church.
