Mildred Babin Portera, 89, passed away in February 2012. She was born in St. Rose, raised in New Sarpy and a resident of Destrehan.
She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony “Tony” Portera and daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Babin. She was the mother of Cynthia Portera, Janet Herbert, Toni Offner and Tim Portera; sister of Judith Caillouet, Alice Murphy, the late Hilda Weber, Larry and Lester Babin; sister-in-law to the late Cosimo, Sam and Ross Portera, Concetta Mule, Rosie Butera, Josephine Windecker and Margaret Portera; grandmother of Jason Portera, Mike, Stephanie, Derek, John Herbert, C. J. and Lauren Offner, Amber and Wyatt Portera and great-grandmother of 10.
Services were held March 1 at H. C. Alexander Funeral Home in Norco and at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan with Fr. Tom McCann officiating. Burial will follow in the church mausoleum.
