15,000 eggs at annual Easter hunt

BAYOU GAUCHE – More than 15,000 eggs will be scattered across fields at the Bayou Gauche Volunteer Fire State during the annual EGGstravaganza on March 31. Bridge Run will be bigger, better this year

LULING/DESTREHAN – The United Way of St. Charles is hosting its 16th annual 5K Bridge Run with the addition of a 10K run, on March 31. The 10K race starts at 8:15 a.m. on the levee path in St. Rose and crosses the Hale Boggs Bridge to the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling. The 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. at the East Bank Bridge Park in Destrehan. Pre-registration is available for $25 per person until March 30. On race day, registration is $30 per person.

St. Charles Catholic run in memory of Marie Ory Dupont

LAPLACE – The twelfth annual FCA “Run for the Son” 5K race and one mile fun run/walk will be held Saturday March 31, 2012 at St. Charles Catholic High School. The one mile fun run/walk will begin at 8 a.m. and the 5K race will follow at approximately 8:30 a.m. This year’s race will be dedicated to the memory of Marie Ory Dupont (Class of 2000) who unexpectedly passed away in October. Race registration forms are available at www.stcharlescatholic.org and www.runnotc.org. Entry fees are $15 for adults, $12 for college and high school students and $10 for youth (elementary school and younger). Runners and walkers can submit a $10 no t-shirt entry the day of the race.

Huey R. “Frenchy” Falgoust

Huey R. “Frenchy” Falgoust, 77, a native of Vacherie and longtime resident of Des Allemands, died on March 20, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Lou Sparks, sons, Keith Falgoust of Luling, Robert Falgoust of Cut Off and Timothy “Can Man” Falgoust of Des Allemands; daughters, Robin F. Adams (husband Mickey) of Houma, Roberta F. Comardelle (husband Gilbert Jr.) of Des Allemands and Monica Falgoust of Des Allemands; sisters, Leanna F. Kraemer, Cheryl F. Tregre (husband Ricky) and Ericka Schaubhut (husband Bert); stepsons, Jamie, Todd, Glenn and Marty Foret; stepdaughters, Karen Breaux (husband Gerald), Shirley Hendon and Barbara Rushing; grandchildren, Jeremy, Patrick, Christopher, Brett and Katie Falgoust; and numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Adeline Chauvin Falgoust; his wife of eight years, Sylvia Breaux Falgoust; parents, Edmond and Agatha “Agot” Rome Falgoust, sister, Laura F. Fonseca (husband Junior), daughter-in-law, Sandra T. Falgoust, and brother-in-law, Frank Kraemer.
