Max Allan Rankin

Max Allan Rankin, age 67, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20, 2023, due to extensive GI issues he was battling for several months. He was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on December 14, 1955.

He worked for JB Merit at Dow Chemical Plant as a Crane Operator for 20 years. Max also worked for various contractors at local chemical plants throughout his career. He was an excellent welder and heavy equipment operator who was well respected. He grew up an adventurous young boy in Luling. He developed a liking for the outdoors and spent summers with his relatives in El Dorado fishing and hunting. As a young man, he became an avid deer hunter and fisherman. From his father, he developed a liking for flying and bought his own ultra-light plane. He loved telling stories of his flying adventures. He also enjoyed riding his Harley and his horse Aquila. He retired in 2021 and recently moved to Folsom, LA where he intended to spend the rest of his life. He loved spending time with his family and telling stories of his life experiences. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Max was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Frances Rankin and his great niece Daelyn. He is survived by his siblings, Diana Bye (Tim), Perry Rankin, Roger Rankin (Michelle) and Judy Leaber (Al) and his nephews and nieces, Dustin, DeeDee, Britney, Brandon, Zachary, Desi, Ian, Hayden, Havana, Charli, Braxton, Demi, Layne and Ace. He lived a good life and was well-loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

We would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Ochsner Medical Center’s Main Campus for their care and making Max comfortable during his stay.

Max’s life was celebrated on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie, LA. Visitation began at 2:00 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 4:00 pm.
