Larry Joseph Schexnaydre

Larry Joseph Schexnaydre of Destrehan Louisiana.  Larry was born September 9, 1937, in Good Hope, Louisiana.  Larry joined his wife Sharon Weaver Schexnaydre, with Christ, on January 18, 2025 at the age of 86.  He was at his home in Destrehan, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was a graduate St Charles Borromeo High School 1955, in Destrehan Louisiana. Larry was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church Parish where he was an usher and reader.  He served on the St Charles Borromeo School Board and Parish Council.  Larry was the president of the Jaycees and served on the St Charles Parish Zoning Board.  He served on the Transition Team for Albert D. Laque’s first term in 2000 as parish president.

Larry worked at Shell Oil Company in Norco Louisiana. He said his fondest memories was “leading the group of craftsmen in the electrical and instrument field to successfully start up the largest expansion at the Norco Manufacturing Complex in Norco”, where he retired in 1993.

Larry enjoyed his retirement, traveling with Sharon across Canada & from the East Coast to the West coast, crisscrossing the United States from North Dakota to Mexico and back home to Destrehan.  Larry was an active member of the Mardi Gras Ramblers and the HRC of the Holiday Ramblers Motorhome Club, also a member of the Cruising Cajuns Chapter of the FMCA Motor Home club.

His Proudest moment was the birth of his daughter, Stacy in 1960 and exclaimed “his wife was aglow!”  He especially enjoyed visiting with his many grandchildren and great grandchildren and seeing them at the many events he attended.  He cherished those memories; the Sunday get togethers, birthday parties as well as making his renown oyster dressing for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, his father Joseph T. Schexnaydre, his mother Inez Troxler.  He is survived by his brother Gary Schexnaydre (Karen).  Also he is survived by his only daughter Stacy Murray (Paul J. “Joey” Murray III) , 5 Grand Children, Paul IV  (Cheney), Chad (Lauren), Larry Andre’ (Courtney), Jared (Haley), Blake (Kimberly); and by 13 Great Grand Children: Anistin, Sirandin & Quincin; Maverick & Creed; Kain & Karter; Ayden, Luke & Juliana; Beau, Ivy & Eden and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family thanks the caregivers at Anvoi Hospice for their care.

The services will be on Monday January 27, 2025.  Family and Friends Visitation begin at St. Charles Borromeo from10:00 am until Mass at 12 O’clock Noon. Interment following Mass at the St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery.
