Jeanette Blount

Jeanette Blount died peacefully on October 5th, she was 87 years old.

She was born Jeanette Camille Anizan on November 24, 1935 in Texas City, Texas to Frank & Evelyn Anizan. As a child, she lived through rationing in World War II and survived the Texas City Explosion in 1947.

Jeanette was always an excellent student, receiving numerous honors. She was active in choir and showed great artistic talent. Later, she was the only female member of the Institute for Space Travel at San Antonio Vocational & Technical High School. She joined the ROTC as a Sponsor and eventually achieved the rank of Honorary Colonel. She graduated in 1953, as the 2nd highest ranking girl in her class, and received a scholarship to Mary Hardin-Baylor College. After graduation, she lived in Sabinal Texas and worked at the Air Force Base in Hondo, Texas.

In 1955, Jeanette married Fred Richoux and soon afterward relocated to Louisiana. Jeanette and Fred had three children together. After they divorced, she was married for many years to Marvin Blount.

From 1974 to 1991, Jeanette worked at the Union Carbide Plant in Taft Louisiana (now Dow) as an Administrative Secretary. After retirement, she traveled by van to nearly every state with Marvin.

She resided in St Charles Parish for around 50 years and attended Bible Center Church.

Preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Pauline Anizan; stepfather, Charles “Mac” McFarland; brother Anthony “Buzzy” Anizan, sister-in-law Barbara Anizan, and ex-husband Marvin Blount.

Survived by her brother, Lt. Col Michael McFarland, USAF, Retired (Pearl), stepsister Jerry Sue Massa, children Suzanne Richoux, Terence Richoux (Lisa Baye), and David Richoux (Deidre Acosta), grand children Steven Becnel (Shelley Chappuis), Christy Becnel Rodriguez (Carmelo Enrique Rodriguez), Erin Richoux (Kenny Mohon), Lauren Richoux Hackett (Ryan), Sarah Richoux Anderson (Robert), and Bethany Richoux Faucheux (Blaine), great grandchildren Anne Marie Becnel, Maximillian Becnel, Joseph Becnel, Clare Becnel, Genevieve Becnel, Lucy Becnel, Oliver Sketchler, Mazzy Mohon, Arlo Mohon, Isla Faucheux, Hazel Faucheux, Olive Faucheux, and Miriam Anderson.

Visitation and funeral service to be held at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway in Marrero on October 19, 2023. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. The service will begin at 11:00 AM. Immediately followed by a brief graveside observance at St Charles Cemetery in Luling.
