Alyce Mansfield Wilkie

August 13, 1941 – October 14, 2023

Funeral services for Alyce Mansfield Wilkie, 82 of Farmerville, LA, were held Friday, October 20, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Farmerville, LA. Officiating the service will be Rev. Kurt Auger and Rev. Ronnie Parks. Visitation will begin at 9:30 A.M. until time of service at the church. Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens near Norphlet, AR.

Alyce graduated from Malvern High School in 1959 and Ouachita Baptist University in 1963 where she was a member of the Women of EEE Social Club. After graduation she taught at Strong High School for 4 years teaching business English. She taught 1 year at Oil Belt Vocational Technical School where she had a very special student named Joyce Wilkie. Joyce just so happened to be the mother of Larry Wilkie, and that is how she was introduced to Larry whom she later married in 1968. In 1968, she moved to Luling, LA with Larry and taught typing at Hahnville High School for 22 years. She retired from the St Charles Parish School System in 1990, but she wasn’t done. She was a lifelong educator and continued with JTPA in St Charles Parish from 1991 to 1998. In 1999, she and Larry moved to Farmerville, LA and she taught at Career Training Specialty in Monroe from 1999 to 2004. She worked for Unitech from 2006 to 2012 as an instructor/academic dean/director of education. From 2012 to 2022, she worked at Workforce Development Board 83 as a health profession opportunity grant student liaison. Her passion in life was teaching and watching her students become successful. When she wasn’t teaching, she was still “teaching” at the church, having taught Bible Drill for 30+ years and Sunday School. She loved her church and her get-togethers with the Quachita 9 Girls. She enjoyed boat rides on the lake, competitive bream fishing with family, and made the best chocolate sheet cake. She was also an avid LSU and Saints fan, and would get together with her friend Dottie on weekends and watch the games while texting her family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Larry Wilkie.

She is survived by her children Andrew Wilkie (Heidi), Angela Wilkie (Alicia), Jason Wilkie (April), and her brother Richard Mansfield and sister Carole Mansfield Scott. Grandchildren Carson, Ella, Madeline, and Jacob Wilkie. She is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews. Pallbearers are Rick Mansfield, Robby Gilbert, Arley Wheetley, Dane Jester, Keith Hoggard, and Brad Risinger. Honorary pallbearers are the Quachita Girls (Dena, Marylee, Retha, Dianna, June, Carolyn, Judy, Linda), Dottie McCain, Linda Wallace, LW & Bernie Nolan, Elwanda Murphy, and the Ballard Sunday School Class. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Farmerville Missions and the American Cancer Society.

  1. I knew Alyce when her family and mine attended First Baptist Luling. I absolutely adored her and her wonderful husband, Larry. My memories of this couple and their three children are such fond memories. Alyce was so calm and always
willing to listen. Her compassion for others was reflected in everything she did. Rest easily with the Lord, my friend. You made a difference in the world! Kay Pastor
