Lisa Madere Guy & Joel M. Guy

Lisa Madere Guy, 55, and Joel M. Guy, 61, formerly of Luling, passed away on Nov. 28, 2016.

Joel was a pipeline engineering designer and Lisa was a human resources accounts payable administrator.  They lived and worked in numerous states throughout their 31 years of marriage and enjoyed the outdoors with boating, camping, and hiking adventures in their beloved Great Smoky Mountains or relaxing on the beaches of the East and Gulf coasts. They were very interactive in the lives of their children and grandchildren.

Lisa was preceded in death by her Father, Alvin “Preacher” Madere of Luling. Joel was preceded in death by grandparents, Ben and Eletia Guy; parents, Betty Jo and Herbert White of Surgoinsville, Tenn; and brother, Jeff Teaque.

Lisa and Joel are survived by their blended family:  their son Joel Michael Guy Jr. and Joel’s daughters: Chandise Fink (Randy), Angela Guy, and Michelle Dennison; also grandchildren, Joshua, Andrew, and Ashley Fink; Preston, Baylor and Behn Dennison.

Lisa is survived by her mother, Joyce B. Madere of Luling; brother, Alvin Madere Jr. (Pamela); sister, Paula Madere Kinler (Brian); Godchild, Erica Heling (Scott); and nephew, Corey Weeks (Lindsey), along with great-nephew, Liam, and great-niece, Elodie.

Joel’s brother, Gary McMurray (Linda), sisters Robin White and Rene Charles, and special niece, Tasha White, also mourn their passing.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Jan. 14 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan.  Family and friends are invited to visitation at the church from 9 to 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred or donations to the St. Charles Parish Humane Society in memory of Joel and Lisa.
