Betty Lou Cox Green

Betty Lou Cox Green, 88, passed away peacefully in Praireville on Jan. 21 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Green was the wife of the late Thomas Green and daughter of the late Alma Carl and Ruby Irene Cox.  She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Carnell Putnam and Jerry Loudermilk and  her brother, Kenneth Cox.

She is survived by her sons Thomas ( Kathleen) Green of Thibodaux, David (Judith) Green of Prairieville, and Mark (Emma) Green of Humble, Texas,  grandchildren: Travis (Jennifer)

Green, Emily (Joshua) Picou, Gerard Green, Benjamin (Jeanne) Green, Andrew (Morgan)Green and Mary Green, great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Aiden, Sarah, Claire, Emile, and Jolie. Betty is also survived by four sisters: Maudie Darr, Linda Sue Childers, Sandra Kay Anderson and Sharon Ann Fischer and one brother Carl Lee Cox.

Green was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born in Limestone County, Texas. She was a resident of Edna and Victoria, Texas, before moving to Luling where she was a longtime member of Luling United Methodist Church.

She was a homemaker and a gifted artist on canvas and porcelain. She will be remembered most for her kind spirit. Although she forgot names and relationships because of Alzheimers, her sweet personality always broke through. She always smiled at family members and called everyone “sweetie.” Though she is resting peacefully in Jesus’ arms, her family will miss her.

A memorial service was held on Feb. 4 at Edna First United Methodist Church.
