Esther Z. Detillier, 92, a native and resident of Ama passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021.
Visitation will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday, August 20th from 10:00 a.m. until funeral time.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. with burial to follow in St. Charles Cemetery.
She is survived by her children, Liz Prejean (Terry), Paul Detillier, Teresa Majoria (Mark), Henry Detillier, Lenore Matherne (Randy) and Alfred Detillier (Ikaha); 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Detillier, Sr.; parents, Henry and Olive Zeringue; son, John G. Detillier, Jr.; granddaughter, Jaclyn Prejean; daughter-in-law, Lisa B. Detillier; son-in-law, William “Bill” Henderson; daughter-in-law, Dawn Todd; 6 brothers and sisters.
Esther married John on November 30, 1957 and was a devoted wife for 53 years. Together they raised their 7 children in the Catholic faith and had a special devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Blessed Mother Mary.
She cared for her family with much devotion, oftentimes sacrificing herself and her needs in the process. She was supportive and encouraging, wise and kind and so proud of her children and grandchildren.
Esther was ever so calm and serene in her Catholic faith and shared her faith with her family and others by teaching religion, being a Eucharistic Minister, traveling to EWTN and working with The Miracle of the Rosary Mission.
