Edward “Cap” Johnson Sr.

On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, Edward “Cap” Johnson Sr. was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Edward “Cap” Johnson, Sr. was born February 12, 1940, in Killona, LA to the late Arthur Sr. and Beatrice (Simpson) Johnson. Edward was united in holy matrimony to Earline Alexander Johnson on August 12, 1960. They spent 61 loving years together.

God blessed this union with one daughter and three sons: Yelena (Percy) Jackson, Edward Jr. (Jeanne), Cedric Sr. (Connie), and Derrick (Sharon) Johnson. He was the brother of Victoria Hatcher and the late Arthur Jr. and Victor Johnson. Edward was the grandfather of 15 and the great-grandfather of 7. He had five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law. He was the Godfather of Rev. Rodney Johnson Sr., Roderick Darensbourg, Keltric Lockett, Ronald Johnson, and Robin Lewis.

Edward was baptized, June 12, 2016 at Historic Bethlehem Baptist Church. He started his trucking company Ed Johnson Truck Service in 1972 and he also was a school bus operator for 31 years with the St. Charles Parish School Board and was loved by all his passengers. Edward was a loving, caring, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and a great friend.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Historic Bethlehem Baptist Church, 14989 River Rd., Hahnville, LA, Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Rodney Johnson, Sr. officiating, Interment Church of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Taft, Louisiana.

Visitation at the above named church from 9:00 AM until service time.

Due to COVID-19, everyone attending is required to wear masks and adhere to social distancing.
