Vaniess J. Dufrene Jr. “Captain Doughbelly”

Vaniess J. Dufrene Jr. “Captain Doughbelly,” 69, a native and resident of Des Allemands passed away on Oct. 9.

Visitation was held Oct. 13 at First Assembly of God Church, Des Allemands followed by religious services and burial in Des Allemands Mennonite Cemetery.

Dufrene is survived by his wife, Dianna Dufrene; son, Vaniess J. Dufrene, III and wife Tara; grandson; Vaniess J. Dufrene IV “Van”, brother, Rodney Dufrene and sisters, Patsy Madere, Sandra Tastet, Debra Lasseigne and Cindy Delaune.He was preceded in death by his parents, Vaniess Dufrene Sr. and Julia Truxillo Dufene; son, Michael Dufrene and brother, Danny Dufrene.

Captain Doughbelly was a licensed USCG tugboat captain for 50 years. He loved his family and watching his grandson play baseball, fishing, eating out and watching Monster Jam. He was comforted by all of his puppies. He was a loving and giving person with a heart of gold.
