Cynthia Rasmus

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cynthia Rasmus, a wonderful woman of unparalleled love and dedication. Cynthia, fondly known as Cindy, was born on July 13, 1950. She departed this earthly realm on December 8, 2024 leaving a void that can never be filled.

The union of Cindy with her husband, Jerry Rasmus, resulted in a family that grew with time, showering love and happiness over the years. She is survived by her son: Troy Brierly (Kelly Brierly) and her daughter, Amy Rasmus. Cindy dedicated her life to nurturing not just her biological children, but many more who looked up to her as a mother figure.

Predeceased by her son, Todd Brierly, and her son, Gary Smith, Cindy’s absence will be deeply felt. She was also tragically predeceased by her parents, Shirley Holmes and Roy Paine, her sisters, Deborah Nehls and Barbara Mahnesmith, as well as Barbara Turner, and her step-father, Duane Holmes.

Despite the numerous losses in her life, Cindy’s spirit remained unbroken. Her indomitable spirit shone through in her dedication to her grandchildren. She is survived by her grandsons Terence Brierly, Kane Naquin and her granddaughters, MegAnn Brierly, Maylina Vasquez and Anastasia Turner.

Cindy was an alumna of North Iowa Area Community College, where she graduated with an Associate Degree in 1978. But her real education was in the school of life, where she taught everyone who knew her the true meaning of love, courage, and resilience.

Her dedication to her family was steadfast, traveling any distance for her loved ones and their special events. She was truly the beacon of her family, with her love and warmth touching every heart. The phrase “she is loved by many” is an understatement when applied to Cindy – she was an irreplaceable light that will continue to shine in the hearts she touched.
