Charles Fredrick Campbell, 79, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 6 of natural causes after a prolonged illness.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melchoir Campbell; mother, Rose Aline Laurents; and brothers Melchoir and Jacques Campbell.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Josefina Campbell; his three children, Brian, Jeanine and Nicole; three grandchildren, Mario, Emma and Carlos; and his sister Caledonia Searle.
He was born in Gueydan on July 8, 1935. Campbell graduated from McNeese State University and served in the U.S. Army. He had a long career with the USDA/ASCS and served on the board of directors of many organizations including the World Trade Center in New Orleans, the St. Charles Parish chapters of the Louisiana Farm Bureau and Cattleman´s Association, The New Orleans Federal Business Association, the State Board of the Louisiana Farm Bureau and the Louisiana Export Council.
In 1983 he was conferred the title of Honorary Citizen of New Orleans by Mayor Ernest Morial and he was recently inducted in to the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame.
His last act of giving was to donate his body to the LSU Medical Research Center in New Orleans.
