Brad Nolan

Brad Nolan, loving husband, devoted father and a good friend to many, passed away on Aug. 9 in Birmingham, Ala. following a tragic swimming accident that he suffered in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Brad was born in Lafayette, on June 19, 1964. He graduated from Hahnville High School in 1982 and from LSU in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

He spent the next 28 years working in the nuclear and petrochemical industries, holding various engineering positions with Entergy, Monsanto Co., Syngenta and BASF.  Brad was an avid outdoorsman.

He enjoyed boating and fishing the saltwater marshes at Cocodrie, hiking local trails around the Tunica Hills and duck hunting in the Louisiana marshes.He also did wood-working and wine making (much enjoyed by his friends and neighbors).

Brad and his family moved from Bayou Gauche to Geismar in 2013.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Somme; his parents, Bill and Lynette Nolan of Prairieville; son, Ryan Nolan of Baton Rouge; step-sons, Ryan and Sean Comardelle; granddaughter, Olivia; brother, Brian Nolan of Osaka, Japan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were  conducted by Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales, La.

Visitation was held at the Ourso Funeral Home Chapel at 13533 Airline Highway in Gonzales on Aug. 12.

A Funeral Mass was conducted at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Hwy. 73, Prairieville on Thursday, Aug. 13 with a visitation held just before mass.  Interment followed at Oak Lane memorial park located on Highway 73 in Prairieville.
