Alvin Peter “Champ”Champagne

Alvin Peter “Champ” Champagne, a native of St. Charles Parish and a lifelong resident of Luling, passed away on Aug. 9, 2015, at the age of 88.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion Post 131 and VFW Post 3750. He is survived by his sisters, Pearl Laurent and Bessie Champagne; and brothers Johnny Sr., Jerry Sr., Horace Jr., Charles Sr., Ronald, David Sr., Anthony Sr., Thomas and Wayne “Catfish” Champagne.

Uncle “Champ” will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and cousins of a very large and close family. He is preceded in death by his parents  Mary Catherine Ford and Horace Joseph Champagne Sr.; and brothers Harold Sr. and Morris Champagne.  A Funeral Mass was held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Luling on Aug. 13. Champ was was laid to rest at St. Charles Mausoleum in Luling.
