Gerald “Jerry” “Curly” Joseph Barbier Sr.

Gerald “Jerry” “Curly” Joseph Barbier Sr., 77, a native of Harvey and a resident of Des Allemands, passed away on Monday, Jan. 13 at his residence.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 16 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Gertrude Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beatrice Matherne Barbier; son, Gerald J. Barbier, Jr. and wife Monique; daughters, Donna Maldonado and husband Stephen and Nicole Breaux and husband Terry; grandchildren, Travis, Haley, Dylan, Stephen, Evan, Matthew and Ryan and sisters, Patricia Cortez, Margaret Chaisson and Leslie Jean Ledet.

He was preceded in death by parents, Hubert Barbier Sr. and Gladys Brignac Barbier and brothers, Percy T. Barbier and Hubert J. Barbier, Jr.

He had a passion for fishing and hunting and was known as the sac-a-lait king of Des Allemands.
