Lionel G. Aucoin

Lionel G. Aucoin passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday evening, May 3, 2017. He would have made his 89th birthday on Saturday, May 6th. He was the beloved husband of Veronica Hymel Aucoin for 64 years. Loving father of Cedric Aucoin (Deena), Vernelle “Beannie” Salemi (David), Matt Aucoin (Shaan), Lionel J. Aucoin (Juli), and Arthur Aucoin (Suzanne). Grandfather of Rachel Aucoin, Justin Salemi, Heather Salemi Mayeux, Benjamin Aucoin, Blakely Aucoin, Jaret Aucoin, Leigh Aucoin, Michael Aucoin, Marissa Aucoin, and Bradley Aucoin. Great-grandfather of four. Brother of Charles A. Aucoin and the late Maxine Millet. Son of the late Charles Aucoin Sr. and Rowena Templet Aucoin.

Lionel was a native of Reserve and has been a resident of Hahnville for over 61 years. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War, serving his country in the United States Army. He was also a charter member of the VFW Post 3750 in Luling. He retired from Monsanto after over 34 years of dedicated service as an electrician.

Upon retirement, he worked for the St. Charles Parish Library System as a courier. Lionel and his family were devout parishioners of Holy Rosary in Hahnville for many years. He was a recipient of the St. Louis Medallion from the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Lionel was a very kind and generous person who will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at OUR LADY OF THE HOLY ROSARY, 1 Rectory Lane, Hahnville, on Monday morning, May 8, 2017 at 10:30.

Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 at H.C. ALEXANDER, 821 Fourth Street, Norco, and again at church on Monday from 9:00 in the morning until Mass time. Interment will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Taft. In lieu of flowers, Masses or contributions in his memory to the VFW Post 3750 are preferred.
