United Way distributes $1.4 million to area agencies

LULING – United Way of St. Charles Board of Directors approved over $1.4 million to fund 30 local agencies providing services in St. Charles Parish.

Some of the agencies approved for funding include Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, American Red Cross, St. Charles Community Health Center, ARC of St. Charles, St. Charles 4-H Clubs and Second Harvest.

Creole Creation, Inc., which conducts a school backpack drive and the Taking a Positive Steps program, is receiving funding from United Way of St. Charles for its first time.
In addition to providing support to agencies, United Way of St. Charles also develops and operates community impact programs that target specific needs in St. Charles Parish.  These programs, designed to help people help themselves, include Success By 6® and Project Transition.

United Way of St. Charles Board of Directors also approved funding to expanding its community impact programs.  This expansion will include programs such as the Imagination Library, which will provide a book every month for any child in St. Charles Parish until the age five, and Financial Stability Partnership.  Financial Stability Partnership will provide a case worker to help individuals and families obtain and preserve assets, become financial stable, and achieve long-term economic independence.

United Way of St. Charles is able to provide resources to agencies and develop community impact programs due to donations made by contributors in the community.

“United Way of St. Charles is grateful to have such strong community support, which allows us to continue giving support to local agencies and providing programs that improve lives and creates lasting changes in St. Charles Parish,” John Dias, the executive director of the UWSC, said. “We appreciate those who live united in St. Charles Parish by giving, advocating and volunteering to help advance the common good in our parish.”
