Tornado alert issued for St. Charles Parish

The National Weather Service (NWS) in New Orleans has issued a tornado warning for St. Charles and Lafourche parishes until 1:30 p.m. today (Aug. 28).

A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 9 miles northeast of Larose, moving north at 15 mph, according to the NWS.

NWS radar indicated rotation in the storm capable of producing flying debris that can cause injury to anyone with injury. It also is capable of damaging or destroying mobile home, damaging houses and vehicles, as well as tree damage.
