A man suspected to be responsible for a St. Rose shooting last week has been arrested after turning himself in, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Joseph Washington, 18, of St. Rose, turned himself in just before midnight Monday (March 2) according to Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cpl. James Grimaldi. A warrant had been issued for Washington’s arrest following a Feb. 29 incident at 1 Summerton Drive in St. Rose’s Charlestowne Subdivision.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call concerning a shooting that night, arriving on scene to find a 38-year-old male victim suffering from an apparant gunshot wound to the head. The victim was conscious and alert, and was promptly transferred for medical treatment at University Medical Center in New Orleans. During the investigation, detectives found probable cause to issue a warrant for Washington’s arrest, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Washington has been charged with aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon. He is currently being held at Nelson Coleman Correctional Center with no bond.
