Natives of Luling, Kenny and Jessica Waldrop have a pretty good grasp on their community’s love of the outdoors, and it shows at their Boutte store, Outdoor Express.
Located at 14252 U.S. Highway 90, the family owned and operated business is a one-stop shop to meet all of one’s fishing and hunting needs, and the Waldrops take particular pride in the relationships they build with the store’s longtime customers.
“All of our customers come first,” Jessica said. “We try and give them a lot of one-on-one time to make sure they find everything they need.”
At the store, one can find the right lures, rods and reels to haul in the catch of the day. Outdoor Express has also recently begun making customized rods for their customers, while live bait is also available.
The store specializes in archery, with a full line of traditional, compound and crossbows by manufacturers that include PSE and Parker. Outdoor Express has an archery tech on location from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday where customers can get repair work done.
There’s also an indoor archery shooting range where customers may test their bows and their skills.
One of the major advantages Kenny feels their business has is the years and years of experience with its staff out in the field.
“I think that’s one thing you’ll get that you won’t at the local box stores,” Kenny said. “That one-on-one experience of someone that’s been out between the bayous and woods who can give you that firsthand account of what best fits what you’re looking for. We have years and years of experience and we can help folks find the things they need to help make them successful in the outdoors.”
