St. Rose man who led police on chase gets 6 months in jail

A St. Rose man who led police on a high-speed car chase and was accused of attempting to run an officer’s car off the road in February was sentenced to six months in St. Charles Parish prison.

Bobby Terrell, 26, of 529 Mockingbird Lane in St. Rose, pleaded guilty to a charge of resisting an officer as part of a plea bargain.

Terrell’s six month sentence includes credit for time served.

On Feb. 10, police observed Terrell’s Grand Prix speed up and nearly hit another vehicle as he tried to pass it on Mockingbird Lane.

Officers attempted to stop Terrell, who refused to do so, beginning a chase that spanned Adams St., Turtle Creek Lane, Normandy Street., Preston Hollow Drive, LA 48 and First St.

Along the way, Terrell nearly hit another vehicle after speeding through an intersection, and soon after swerved in an attempt to run an officer’s vehicle off the road, according to court documents.

Terrell’s vehicle finally stopped at a RaceTrac gas station, where police subdued him when he initially refused to comply.

When asked why he ran, Terrell reportedly told officers he smoked marijuana that “may have been laced with something” and had not checked in with his parole officer, according to court documents.

After a background check, police found Terrell had several attachments.

Terrell initially faced charges of reckless operation, attempted murder of a peace officer, attempted aggravated damage to property and aggravated flight from an officer in addition to the charge of which he was sentenced.
