St. John sheriff’s deputy arrested on drug, weapon charges

A St. John the Baptist Parish deputy was arrested in St. Charles Parish Wednesday morning and charged with possession of drugs and a weapon.

Deputies with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by Barry Conner II, as the passenger headlight was out on Conner’s vehicle, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office. A further investigation revealed the driver to be in possession of marijuana, cocaine, and a Glock handgun.

Conner, 23, of 613 Magnolia Ave. in LaPlace, was then arrested on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of SCH II – crack cocaine, use of a firearm in presence of a CDS and vehicle required headlights.

Conner, the driver of the vehicle, is being held at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center on a $25,000 bond.

The deputy was reportedly suspended indefinitely by St. John Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre following Conner’s arrest.
