The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for a group of men that reportedly approached three teens, pulled out a shotgun and stole two frogs.
The incident occurred at 10:30 p.m. on Sunday night when an 18-year-old man and two 16-year-old boys were catching frogs in a small boat in the canal at the end of Kellogg Street in Mimosa.
According to the teens, they were called over to the bank of the canal by five or six men who claimed to be Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents. When the teens got to the bank, one of the men pulled out a shotgun and demanded everything they had, according to the report.
The only items the teens had on them were the two frogs that they had caught, and they handed them over. The robbers then fled the scene towards the Mimosa swimming pool.
The teens told police that five of the robbers were white while one was possibly African American. All of the men were reported to be in their 20s.
The Sheriff’s Office is seeking information as to the identity of the robbers. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police by dialing 9-1-1 or calling Det. Joseph Lemoine at (985)783-1355.
