Sheriff’s Office investigating incident of a man who allegedly offered children candy to enter his car

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident involving a man who allegedly offered children candy to enter their vehicle in Killona.

On Saturday (Sept. 28) at about 5 p.m., deputies received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle described as a dark green car, possibly a Honda, occupied by a dark skinned male, possibly Hispanic, who allegedly stopped and the driver offered two male juveniles candy from the vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The occupant informed them to enter the vehicle so they could retrieve the candy. When the two juveniles refused to enter, the vehicle fled the area.

Sheriff Greg Champagne said an investigation has been launched, but advised parents should still speak with their children about the importance
of never getting into a vehicle with strangers, never accepting candy from strangers, and always call 911 or notify a trusted adult whenever a child feels uncomfortable around a stranger.

Anyone has information about the Killona incident or has had a recent similar incident occur, is urged to contact Detective Waguespack of the Sheriff’s Office at (985) 783-6807 or dial 911.
