Saturday sale offers savings to Today’s Car Care customers

Special parts, equipment to be moved

An investment in new equipment by Today’s Car Care has created an opportunity for those looking to put some work into their car themselves while saving a little money in the process.

The Boutte store is holding a special parts and equipment sale Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. where owner Galen Guidry will be selling items that have been in storage for a reduced price in an effort to clear space for newer equipment.

“I just have equipment I’ve collected over years, and a lot of it still good,” Guidry said. “I hate to throw things away. It’s just we don’t use them anymore or have upgraded. I even have some personal parts hanging around here,  engine parts, things of that nature.

“I don’t want our space to be cluttered, so we’re going to have this sale. It’s definitely going to be a cash-only type of deal. So if you’ve got cash on you, you might get things surprisingly cheap.”

Guidry said there will be mufflers, exhaust pipes, complete engines, transmissions and carburetors among other items, and he added that for a do-it-yourself type of person, the deals could add up in a hurry.

“We just have so many bits and pieces that a guy could probably, instead of having to search everywhere for this stuff, he can buy this whole thing and just put an engine together and it would be ready to run in an older car like that,” Guidry said. “I thought some of this stuff I would use by now, but when you’re doing this for a living, you’re constantly upgrading equipment and sometimes you replace things before they go to hell in a hand basket. What I want to do is say, take this whole set up, think it’s a real, real good deal.”

Guidry added there’s more reliability in buying some of these items for a discount price from a store, rather than finding a specific part to buy from an internet sale, for example.

“When you buy this stuff from a guy like me, you’re a bit more assured you’re going to get stuff in good condition,” he said. “When you buy it off Craig’s List, you don’t know what’s going on.”

Today’s Car Care is located at 13260 U.S. 90 and is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
