Robbers steal money bags from woman at knifepoint in front of bank

A 50-year-old Destrehan woman was robbed at knifepoint while attempting to make a night deposit at the Capital One Bank in Destrehan Sunday night, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The woman was walking up to the front of the bank a little after 10 p.m. when she  was attacked by three or four black males. The men, one of whom was carrying a knife, pushed the woman to the ground and took two  bank bags that she was carrying, according to authorities.

The robbers then fled the scene.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Pat Yoes said the men were able to conceal themselves because of the layout of the bank property.

“If you’re traveling on the road, it’s hard to see anyone at the bank because it is set back farther than the two businesses that are on either side of it,” he said.

The amount of money that was taken was not released.

The incident is still under investigation and anyone having any information about the robbery is asked to contact Det. Jeremy Pitchford at (985)783-1135 or (985)783-6807.
