Return dates for St. Charles Parish schools announced

St. Charles Parish Public Schools announced much-awaited reopening dates for its schools Tuesday, revealing a schedule that will roll out in phases based on damage and site-specific recovery situations.

Timelines are tentative as the school district awaits the release of buildings and clearance from a number of contractors conducting work in the buildings, said Stevie Crovetto, SCPPS spokeswoman.

“As previously mentioned, we are committed to a safe and healthy environment for students and employees,” Crovetto said. “Once it has been determined buildings meet safety, environmental, and operational standards, we will be able to provide more definitive dates for reopening of schools. Please note all dates are tentative and subject to change.”

The phases are as follows:

Phase 1 schools: Ethel Schoeffner Elementary School, Luling Elementary School, Mimosa Park Elementary School, R.J. Vial Elementary School, St. Rose Elementary School, Albert Cammon Middle School and J.B. Martin Middle School.

Teachers and staff return: Sept. 30

Students return: Week of Oct. 4

Phase 2 schools: Allemands Elementary School, Lakewood Elementary School, Harry Hurst Middle School, R.K. Smith Middle School, Landry Educational Programs Center, Satellite Center, Destrehan High School* and Hahnville High School*.

Teachers and staff return: Oct. 7

Students return: Week of Oct. 11.

*DHS and HHS will temporarily platoon at Hahnville’s campus.

Phase 3 schools: Carver Early Learning Center, East Bank Early Learning Center, New Sarpy Elementary School and Norco Elementary School.

Teachers and staff return: Oct. 21

Students return: Week of Oct. 25.
