Department of Parks and Recreation announces suspension of fall activities and closure of facilities

The St. Charles Parish Department of Parks and Recreation has announced the suspension of all fall activities and closure of all facilities until further notice due to damage caused by Hurricane Ida.

Refunds or credits for fall sports will be granted, and parents of enrolled athletes will receive an email from the department regarding this process.

Officials said due to safety concerns all parks are closed as well.

“The department is conducting assessments, inspections and vital repairs to all 52 community parks and will re-open them when deemed safe,” a press release stated. “The Edward A. Dufresne Community Center remains closed as well.”
