Monday saw the opening of a brand-new donut shop, providing another option for breakfast and anyone looking to satisfy their sweet tooth.
Yummy Fresh Donuts held its grand opening in Destrehan, located at 12519 Airline Hwy Suit J (next to Smoothie King). And whether it’s chocolate, glazed or sprinkled donuts, cinnamon rolls or breakfast items like croissants and other treats, there are plenty of choices for visitors to mull over.
“Very excited to be open,” said Roth Met of Yummy Fresh. “We just started today and we’re hoping people will try us out once they learn we’re here.”
Met has been in the business for five years, previously working with family in Thibodaux. He said he made the move to St. Charles Parish in major part because of the reputation of its school system. Met also lived in California prior to the move locally.
“I want my kids to study here, because (the parish) has good schools,” Met said. “This is a good place for them to study and learn and a really good area in general.”
The shop is open seven days a week, opening early: the hours are 4 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.
So far, Met said, people seem to be enjoying the tasty treats at Yummy Fresh.
“Right now, I couldn’t say there’s one particular favorite. People seem to like them all,” Met said. “I’m very happy to be here and to open the shop. It’s very exciting.”
