According to the Shreveport Times, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association is looking into allegations that a member of the Destrehan High School football staff cheated to give the team an advantage before Friday’s game against South Lafourche.
According to the report, a member of the Destrehan staff reportedly used a South Lafourche player’s username and password to access the Tarpons Hudl page. Hudl is used by some teams to store playbooks, practice film and schemes. The Destrehan staff member allegedly spent 12 hours on the website.
Destrehan, who is currently 8-0 and ranked fifth in Class 5A, beat South Lafourche 49-24 last week.
LHSAA executive director Kenny Henderson told the Shreveport Times that the organization had never dealt with such a situation before and that they paid a visit to the high school on Monday as part of the investigation.
St. Charles Parish Public Schools released a statement concerning the ordeal.
“As soon as the concerns were brought to our attention, an internal investigation was conducted. The information gathered from our internal investigation was then sent to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association. Any actions that jeopardize the integrity of the school system or Destrehan High School will not be tolerated. The investigation by the LHSAA is ongoing; therefore we are unable to comment any further at this time,” Stevie Crovetto, director of public information, said.
