Last week, authorities received reports that a small white van being driven around Norco would pull up next to people on the street while the side door opens slowly.
Inside, all that can be seen is a Hispanic man sitting in a lawn chair facing the startled residents, according to Sheriff Greg Champagne.
“Let me first emphasize that the occupants of the vehicle have not done anything illegal,” Champagne said. “We would only like to locate the van to speak with the driver and passengers.”
The van is described as a small white van with rust spots and racks on the top.
Champagne said that both marked and unmarked units have scoured the area looking for the van and have stopped vehicles fitting the general description. However, authorities have had no luck finding the van they are looking for.
“If anyone notices this vehicle being driven slowly in the area and occupied by Hispanic males, we ask that you try and obtain the license plate number if possible and call us immediately,” Champagne said. “I repeat again that the occupants have done nothing illegal as of this report and there is no need for panic as a result of this information.”
Champagne said that the men in the van have not tried to entice anyone inside.
