Body of 23-year-old Metairie man recovered from river
St. Charles Parish authorities say that a body discovered floating in the Mississippi River is that of a man who jumped off of the Hale Boggs Bridge last Wednesday.
The body of 23-year-old Randall Boe, of Metairie, was recovered on Friday after it was spotted by a tugboat worker in the river near St. Rose at 7:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
According to multiple witnesses, Boe jumped off of the bridge at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
Wearing a yellow shirt and blue pants, he parked a silver Toyota Tacoma on the side of the southbound lanes at the top of the bridge, climbed over the railing and jumped off, according to witnesses.
A construction worker on a river barge told police that he saw a man hit the water and attempted to rescue him, but was unable to do so.
“The Toyoto Tacoma was registered to Boe’s father, that, along with an autopsy, helped us to identify him,” LaGrange said.
