Destrehan woman charged with 5 counts of desertion
A Destrehan woman was booked on five charges of child desertion after one of five children she left in a vehicle put it in drive and struck another vehicle in a business parking lot.
Jorjana Finkenbiner, 29, of 322 Carolyn Drive, is accused of leaving the children, ranging in age from 8 months old to 3 years old, in a vehicle while she went into a business called Hail Trends 1950 A-B Ormond Blvd., according St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Pat Yoes.
Finkenbiner was charged with five counts of desertion.
The children had been left in the car at about 3 p.m. for about five minutes, when one of them put the vehicle in reverse and struck another vehicle behind them, Yoes said.
It is unknown of all the youngsters are Finkenbiner’s children.
If convicted, Finkenbiner faces a fine of up to $1,000 or up to a year in prison or both per charge.
