Ochsner names new St. Charles Parish Hospital CEO

Reeder is third named to the position since 2015

St. Charles Parish Hospital introduced Austin Reeder as chief executive officer (CEO) effective Feb. 8, marking the third hospital administrator named since the retirement of longtime CEO Federico Martinez in September 2015.

Reeder most recently served as vice president of service lines and operations at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie. He holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Auburn University as well as a master’s degree in public health, epidemiology and a master’s degree of  health administration, both from Tulane University.

Reeder is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

“The St. Charles Parish Hospital Board is excited to begin working with Austin Reeder as the new CEO,” said Ricky Bosco, chairman of the St. Charles Parish Board of Commissioners. “His experience in managing hospital operations, supply chain and support services, as well as oversight of strategic planning, financial performance and service lines, make him well equipped to lead St. Charles Parish Hospital as it grows to meet the needs of our community. On behalf of the board and myself, we look forward to working with Austin in meeting the healthcare needs of St. Charles Parish.”

Added Stephen Robinson Jr., CEO of Ochsner Medical Center — Kenner, “We look forward to Austin bringing his expertise and experience to the CEO role, as we continue building on this momentum and serving the citizens of St. Charles Parish.”

Reeder succeeds Ritchie Dupre, who served as CEO from May of 2016 through December.

Dupre left Ochsner in December to pursue another career opportunity, according to Ochsner spokesman Paul Loisel. Dupre was hired after the hospital’s previous CEO, Anthony DiGerolamo, was transferred to take over the CEO position at Ochsner Medical Center — West Bank, in May of last year.

Martinez served as hospital CEO for 29 years before his retirement in 2015, citing health issues.
