NOPD still searching for missing DHS grad

The New Orleans Police Department is searching for 19-year-old Matthew Young, a former Destrehan High School student, who was recently reported missing from the 2000 block of Lakeshore Drive.

Young was last seen in December by his mother, according to NOPD. He is described as being approximately 6-foot, 1-inch tall and 230 pounds with a birthmark above his left eye. He was registered at the University of New Orleans and scheduled to attend classes starting Jan. 17.

NOPD confirmed Young was still missing as of Tuesday. A 2016 DHS graduate, he played football at the school, starring for the Wildcats as a linebacker and defensive end. Young made 21 tackles to go with two sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss as a senior and was an All-District Team selection.
