Arrest resulted from teacher alerting authorities
A New Sarpy man charged with the 2016 rape of a 6-year-old family member recently pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of oral sexual battery and awaits sentencing.
Willes Anderson, 65, of 771 E. Terrace St., was accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with the child at Anderson’s residence.
According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, police became aware of the incident after a teacher at the child’s school learned of the situation and alerted authorities.
Anderson was indicted by a grand jury on the oral sexual battery charge.
Anderson faces a maximum sentence of eight years in prison and he remains under bail obligation.
He must register as a sex offender upon his eventual release from custody.
A pre-sentencing investigation has also been ordered. He initially pleaded not guilty and his trial set for July 17. After changing his plea, the trial was removed from the docket. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 2.
As of press time, Anderson was being held at Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility on $300,000 bond.
