New Sarpy heroin dealer sentenced to 2 years in jail

A New Sarpy man was sentenced in federal court to two years in prison and three years of supervised released after being convicted of heroin distribution.

Kirk “Pimp” Jenkins was originally charged with distributing heroin as well as possession of a firearm. However, Jenkins pled guilty to three counts of heroin distribution and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sarah S. Vance.

Jenkins’ case began when he was arrested by St. Charles Parish sheriff’s deputies. A deputy saw Jenkins take $50 from two other men in a vehicle parked at a Shell gas station in Destrehan, and in return Jenkins provided a small plastic bag of what analysis by the state police later confirmed to be 3.51 grams of heroin.

In two later instances, Jenkins sold bags of heroin to undercover ATF informants for $312 each. Jenkins was operating out of a home on Hoover Street in New Sarpy.

Jenkins originally faced a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite praised the work of the many departments involved in bringing Jenkins to justice, including the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
